The Roca Berry Farm

The Roca Berry Farm found in Lincoln Nebraska, has 25 acres of space dedicated to growing and cultivating pumpkins. These pumpkins are the perfect picks for the fall, where they are oftentimes used for fall decorating and carving.

Lincoln Nebraska’s Roca Berry Farm also features a full-sized Candyland game. The Candyland game utilizes a spinner that offers children a trip to the Castle and the Nut House. The International Quilt Study Center

Formed in 1997, The International Quilt Study Center which is located within the confines of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, was the result of a generous donation by the Ardis and Robert James Collection of approximately 950 quilts. These quilts came with an accompanying pledge for financial support and thus solidifying the inception of the International Quilt Study Center.

The International Quilt Study Center is seeing through that their efforts lead to the continued archiving of collection and preservation of quilts and the techniques of quilt making. They also find it their mission to study, exhibit, and promote these traditions of quilt making and the specimens that they acquire from different cultures, countries, and time periods. They envision their institution as a center that is creative and dynamic, a source of formal and informal learning and discovery that will contribute to the education of students, teachers, scholars, artists, quilters, and others.

Lux Center For The Arts

The Lux Center for the Arts in Lincoln NE, formerly known as University Place Art Center, was first organized and established in 1977. It was created to provide a central cultural location for the University Place neighborhood. Later in 1987, the center was moved to its current location which is the old University Place city hall. The center then purchased a building that was adjacent to it a little over a decade after its relocation. This was done in 2000, and became the location where they set up their classroom studios. Presently the Lux Center for the Arts offers various educational and art appreciation services with the aid of public and private fundings, to all the residents of the Lincoln area.

The Pershing Center

Lincoln Nebraska has its own historic, city-owned arena in the Pershing Center. This auditorium, which is managed by SMG, can be found near the Nebraska State Capitol on Centennial Mall in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. The Pershing Center is also within reach from a majority of the finer hotels and restaurants in downtown Nebraska, not to mention within the vicinity of the Universite of Nebraska campus.

The Pershing Center owns and offers a broad selection of services and facilities for different events and occasions. The Pershing’s arena can handle concerts, banquets, and formal events aside from the usual sporting events. The Pershing auditorium has also been the site for many exhibits and galleries with its 28,000 square ft. exhibition hall. It is also ideal for trade and auto shows. The exhibition hall can be combined to provide a total of 45,000 square feet of exhibit space if needed. The space can handle 200 booths for special festivals and events.

Pioneers Park

If you’re an outdoor kind of person and you enjoy communing with nature, then the Pioneers Park would be an ideal destination for you and your friends and family when you visit Lincoln Nebraska. With the park open daily until sunset, it is the perfect place for you to spend an entire day out to enjoy all that this landmark of Lincoln has to offer.

 

The Pioneers Park is a wonderful stretch of land full of trees and greens with splendid art pieces scattered around the entire area. This 1,100 acre park is the place to go to if you want to go on picnics or go hiking with some friends. You can also ride your bikes around if you prefer to be on wheels rather than walking. There is also an outdoor amphitheater where you might just visit in time for a special show or event. As you walk around the park, you can see many small ponds, and even a sled run. A golf course is also available for those who are into a more competitive atmosphere. The Pioneers Park along with the Pioneers Park Nature Center was gifted to the city in 1928 by Mr. and Mrs. John F. Harris. The award winning landscape design was a contribution by Lincoln Nebraska’s very own Ernst Herminghaus. The Farmer’s Market in Haymarket

The Farmer’s Market in Haymarket, Lincoln is Nebraska’s largest outdoor market. Having expanded another block along the North 8th Street and thus allowing for around 200 vendors during its midyear peak, the Farmer’s Market celebrates Lincoln’s rich culture and traditions while providing the best food, produces, and wares that Nebraska has to offer.

The Farmer’s Market vendors are allowed to set up their stalls in the morning starting 6:00am until 7:45am. Customers are allowed to look around and have certain items reserved if they wish, but it has long been a tradition that no purchases are to be made until the the whistle blows at 8:00am. At around that time, its pretty much free for all shopping for everybody until 12:00 noon. This has been the longstanding tradition, rain or shine.
